Trust in God, for He will transform your life. That is a saying attributed to Granny in the Children of Light series. But, it can and should be applied in our lives every single day. God’s grace surrounds us. His power is immeasurable. So, trusting him only makes sense. Yet, we struggle with it.
Trust in Him
Isaiah 26:3-4
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.
When I was a mother of young children I must admit to knowing only short periods of perfect peace. Why, because I looked to the external and not to God. I looked at how my children were doing, how my family was doing and even how my work was going. As a working mom, my greatest stressor was when our children were sick. It meant figuring out how to care for them when they could not be at school. Not having any family in the city, it meant taking last minute holiday time to be at home with them, or going to work in the evening / at nights once my husband was home. Later, when I had an office in our home and the luxury of being able to work from home, made the situation better.
Needless to say, I felt stressed, and often it seemed like I was running from one fire to the next, barely keeping ahead of the game.
Exhaustion and lack of peace were my constant – and trust in God, was absent.
So, this passage from Isaiah speaks clearly to my personal state of faith. Did I look to God to help me? No, He was not my first stop. I tried to do everything in my own strength.
Learned from my mistakes.
Years later, I can see my mistakes and I believe I have learned from them. Sure, I don’t have little children any more. I now have grandchildren. Because of my experience, I have tried to teach our daughters to first trust the Lord, to give everything over to Him, then forge ahead looking for God’s provision and protection.
To trust Him to guide.
To look for open windows where doors are slammed shut.
And finally, I am able to lift them in prayer to the care of the Lord.
Look to God and Trust in Him
If you are a young mother, I know your life is crazy busy, especially during this time of uncertainty and insanity. Take a lesson from my life and don’t do as I did. Look to God for His wisdom and guidance. Lay everything at his feet and TRUST him to help you. Look to his provision and protection. Then, in the midst of the storms of life, you will know peace, for when you trust God, He will keep in perfect peace those who trust in Him.
Blessings
