2 Peter 3: 3-4
3 Above all, you must understand that in the last days, scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.”
Mockers
Yesterday we looked at the Persecution of Believers, and today we will look at a slightly different slant on it. It is the mocking we receive from unbelievers, nay-sayers, and the like. Peter (verse above) warned of this, and that it would increase in the last days. Mocking is making fun of or ridiculing your faith, the Word of God, His promises, etc. It is focused on making you feel bad and perhaps driving you to reject what you believe. But be strong. Keep the faith. Hold your head high and persevere.
Scoffers will always be there
Jude 1:18
They said to you, “In the last times, there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.”
Unbelievers have scoffed at God’s promises throughout the millennia and will continue to do so until the last days. Some, and possibly many, will continue to scoff even after the Rapture, the most significant and irrefutable proof of the promises of God, and indeed of his very existence. But Christ promised He will return for his followers… his children. If you are a believer, then you are a child of God, a child of Light.
Matthew 25:31
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.”
The saddest part of all is that there are false teachers in this world who teach… preach and expound their personal and erroneous view that the Bible, God’s word, is not true, that it is false, that it is just nice stories, and so on. They will swear up and down that Christ will not return; that you are the creator and orchestrator of your own life and you are in control and so on. They are liars and charlatans. Their time will come, at the White Throne judgment (information on this to come). They will see the truth for themselves, for He will sit upon the throne and be their judge. Do not listen to them. Don’t give them the time of day and stand firm in your faith.
Stand Firm in your Faith
Perhaps one of the hardest things to do is to remain firm in one’s beliefs when everyone around you is saying something else, calling you crazy or weak, or deluded. We can crumble under such a burden. But you must remain strong in your faith. Remember Jesus’ promises, call upon His Spirit to strengthen you during these trials and guide you through them, so you are victorious until the end.
But until then, there will be many, some possibly in your own family, who refuse to believe. People who may ridicule you for your faith. But be strong in your faith and walk in God’s light and on the path He has prepared for you. Trust God and believe in His son, Jesus Christ. It is the only way to salvation, peace, and joy.
1 Corinthians 16:13
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
